Tay Ninh, May 10, 2026 – Sorbitol France-Vietnam Joint Stock Company (SOFAVI) officially resumed production operations at the France–Vietnam Sorbitol Plant, marking the return to operation of one of Vietnam’s key raw material manufacturing facilities serving the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and industrial sectors.
The event took place amid growing demand for greater control over raw material supply sources, as global supply chains continue to fluctuate, logistics costs remain high, and many domestic manufacturing industries still rely heavily on imports. The France–Vietnam Sorbitol Plant was developed in line with Vietnam’s Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Plan toward 2030, with a vision to 2045, focusing on building a high-tech industry, achieving raw material self-sufficiency, and participating in global value chains. It is also one of the first industrial-scale sorbitol production facilities in Vietnam. The plant applies technology transferred from Europe and operates with highly automated equipment systems designed to meet international quality standards.
Sorbitol France-Vietnam Joint Stock Company (SOFAVI) produces sorbitol on an industrial scale at Tan Hoi 1 Industrial Cluster. With a total investment of VND 1.078 trillion (approximately USD 41 million), the project is equipped with modern European production lines and operates under highly automated standards.
Sorbitol has long been considered an essential ingredient in the production of food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. However, despite Vietnam’s abundant agricultural resources, domestic businesses have remained heavily dependent on imported sorbitol supplies.
The revival of SOFAVI, with a production capacity of 30,000 tons per year, is expected to reduce dependence on foreign supply sources and help Vietnamese manufacturers achieve greater self-sufficiency in production materials.
Le Trung Tuan – Founder and Chairman of PSD Group
Le Trung Tuan, Founder and Chairman of PSD Group, the organization involved in restructuring the project, shared:
“We are not merely restarting machines; we are reigniting a belief — the belief that Vietnamese enterprises can master high technology and stand firmly on the very resources of our homeland.”
One of the key factors that has helped Sorbitol France-Vietnam Joint Stock Company (SOFAVI) gain strong attention from investors is its “clean production” strategy. The plant uses 80% natural non-GMO cassava starch as its primary raw material, sourced directly from Tay Ninh.
This shift toward safe and transparent products not only aligns with global consumer trends but also helps elevate the value of Vietnamese cassava. Instead of being exported as low-value raw materials, Vietnamese agricultural products are now entering modern chemical and pharmaceutical production chains to become high value-added products with significantly greater economic value.
Leaders of Tay Ninh assessed the project as a clear example of the transition from traditional agriculture to deep-processing industry. By employing 90% local workers, the plant not only contributes to the local economy and state budget, but also creates a sustainable employment ecosystem for people living in border areas.
